The Georgia Women’s Institute and Georgia Commission on Women Announce Plans
for Georgia Women’s History Center & Museum

Under the leadership of Chair and President, Nellie Duke, the two organizations have formed a task force to pursue plans for a first-of-its-kind Georgia Women’s History Center and Museum.

“We are proud to announce that Women’s History Month is a perfect time to announce our plans to honor women who have made substantial contributions and sacrifices through the years to advance women and girls in this State and beyond,” said Duke at the celebration of International Women Day held at the Georgia State Capitol on Friday, March 8, 2013.

Committees such as fund development, technology & acquisition, site selection, strategic planning, have been formed to begin work on this ambitious initiative. In addition to the committees collaborations are being pursued with the public and private sectors including higher education, and elected officials.

“We are extremely fortunate that just prior to our formal announcement at the Capitol, volunteers and other interested parties from across the state and country agreed to support our efforts,” said Duke.

Open meetings will be held during early summer with additional information provided on this website and other social media. Interested individuals and companies may contact President, Nellie Duke at 770/459-7328 or Linda Torrence, Public Relations Chair at 404/375-8432.
